Life-learning
I am now trying to instill housekeeping skills into the girls and they seem to be enjoying them...well, for now. Aisyah now puts her plates on the kitchen sink when she's done eating her snacks and helps a bit in the kitchen. When you're small, everything seems exciting.
Yes, I admit, it isn’t efficient. It is messy most of the times and I get frustrated at times. I just wiped the kitchen counter just now because the girls spilled some flour mixture while arguing who gets to whisk it. BUT...it is training them in life learning. They need to understand that we need to work together to make things happen. They need to be responsible and help whenever they can. I believe that this will make them impotant and be more competent.
When the situation arises, they don't need to be all panicky to get things done. Just like I did when my parents went to umrah years back and I had to look after Aisyah all by myself and cook my own meals. And I realised that I can't depend on my mothers to cook for me. I have to be able to take care of my children (and husband :p) and feed them well too. Of course, I still have a long way to go to that agak'ration level like my moms who do everything by taste. They just chopped this and that and throw everything in a pot, some salt and pepper and there you have it...a delicious meal!
My husband has begun to like some of my dishes and I like it. It gives me hope. That I can be a good Ibu to the girls and someday they will tell their friends that "My Ibu cooks the best _________ (fill in the blank with their favourite food)!"

i think its superb that ure letting them help in the kitchen. i try to get gibran to help too coz i dont want him to be one of those men yg grow up to sit and be served je. hehehehehe
fyi, i lost your blog in my listing when i changed my template. boy am i glad u're still around :) too many of my favourite mummy bloggers just stopped blogging!
Wow that's great! I try to get T to "clean up" the toys too. Mostly he listens to me unless he's distracted by some other toys.
I remember when I was little, my mum cldn't be bothered to teach us how to do household chores incldg washing clothes and esply COOKING. When we were teenagers, we were reprimanded for not "chipping in". When we got married, we had to pick up the skills ourselves. With much effort.
So bravo to you!
