Timeout
Ramadhan is here again. In a few months time, Aisyah will be in Primary 1. How time flies. Alhamdulillah, she got into Madrasah Al-Irsyad, our choice of school since we knew the school is moving to the Islamic Hub. Although she has passed her qualification tests, she still needs to do some 'extra work'.
Aisyah doesn't have any problems but she needs lots (and I really means lots!) of prodding to do her work. Schedules are made to make her life (and mine) easier. Of course, ample breaks are given in betwen the exercises and I include playtime/snacktime/tvtime for her. Tests ought to be primarily about measuring the ability and understanding of students, rather than their Stakhanovite ability to put in hours of work. Practise makes perfect but even adults need timeout.
