I hate Murphy
I got tons of work to do today. With Aisyah at her nenek's house till Friday, I actually have to move my a*s fast because I can't get much work done when shes back no matter how hard I tried. She sleeps rather late and by the time she's asleep, I would be snoring away next to her. hehe.
Back to work issues, I just had a wedding assignment yesterday and I have like 4gb of photos to be selected and edited. It's my first non-friends wedding and it's been quite a while since I covered any major events. A wedding is a MAJOR event because basically it's a once-in-a-lifetime event. And Murphy had to screw my photos yesterday...grrr. Everything was fine when I viewed the photos on the camera but when I tried transferring them via the cardreader, it stopped halfway, giving the reason that the files are corrupted and unreadable. My heart almost stopped and I tried again...and again and again. I checked and a group of images were unreadable.
I remembered my x-bos sms'ing me 2 days ago about retrieval of his photos using a data recovery software. I downloaded the PhotoRescue but it doesn't work for me. So I tried transferring directly from the camera to my pc and works. Alhamdulillah!! Those photos were important because there were the pictures of the couple's friends whom we waited just to take a couple of photos.
Now that was close. I wouldn't know what reason to give to the couple if those photos disappared. No more Kingston CF cards for me.
On a geeky note, the new ricoh GX100 is just too hard to resist. A pns with RAW capability. The viewfinder looks pretty ugly though...yucks! I love my f31fd but RAW is pretty useful and that wideangle is sweet too. Anyone wants to buy my F31fd?

Lucky you managed to salvage the photos! Fuh, a heart-stopping moment there. psst, don't tell me all your photos in here and exhibition were taken by f31fd??? V.Impressive if so.
hello mamasarah!
yep..heart-stopping experience indeed. but sh*t always happens....i was using the cf card for quite some time and never had any problem with it. 8/ must remind myself to get more reliable brands next time.
the photos at the exhibition were taken with my dslr...if you're referring to this "I survived" entry, yes..its taken with the f31fd. i like the compact so much that i carry it ard me all the time. dslrs are for my assignments only. you know lah, clients like to see big cameras. hehehehe.
